The pre-treatment method of the workpiece refers to the way in which the workpiece contacts the bath to achieve the purpose of chemical pretreatment. There are mainly immersion type, spray type, spray-soak combination type, and brush coating type. Which treatment method is used depends mainly on the size and shape of the workpiece, site area, quality requirements, output requirements and other factors. For example, workpieces with complex shapes are not suitable for spraying; bottles and barrels are not easy to sink in liquid, so it is not suitable for soaking.
This method is to completely immerse the workpiece in the bath and take it out after a certain period of time. It is a common processing method to complete the goals of degreasing, rust removal, silane or phosphating. The advantage of the immersion method is that as long as the liquid can reach it, the purpose of the treatment can be achieved. This is also the unique advantage of the immersion method, which cannot be achieved by the spray method. However, there are also disadvantages. The immersion is not assisted by mechanical scouring, so the processing speed is slow and the processing time is long. If it is continuous track line production, the equipment will increase, and the area and investment will increase.

The pump is used to pressurize the liquid, and the liquid is formed into a mist at a pressure of 0.1 to 0.2 MPa, and sprayed on the workpiece to achieve a processing effect. Due to mechanical scouring during spraying, the processing speed is accelerated and the time is short. The length of the production line has been shortened, and the venue and equipment have been added to the corresponding section. The disadvantage is that the workpieces with complicated shapes, such as the inner cavity and corners, are not easy to reach and the treatment effect is not good. Therefore, the spray method is only suitable for workpieces with simple shapes. The spray method is also not very suitable for pickling and rust removal, it will cause a series of problems such as equipment corrosion and rust between processes. The spray type phosphating process is not suitable as a pretreatment for cathodic electrophoresis.
3.Combined spraying and soaking
Combined spraying and immersion. In this method, in a certain process, the workpiece is first sprayed, then immersed in the tank, and sprayed out of the tank. This combination keeps the high efficiency of spraying, improves the processing speed, and allows all parts of the workpiece to be effectively treated by soaking. Therefore, the spray-soak combined pre-treatment can complete the treatment process in a short time, the equipment occupies a relatively small area, and at the same time, it can obtain a satisfactory treatment effect. For the automotive industry with higher pretreatment requirements, it is generally preferred to use a combination of spraying and immersion.
Brush coating is to directly apply the treatment liquid to the surface of the workpiece to achieve the purpose of chemical treatment. This method is not easy to obtain a good treatment effect, which is basically not used in the electrophoretic coating process.
